Lanai Dolphin and Snorkel Adventure on the Quicksilver. Breakfast and lunch served

Travel across the Au’au Channel to snorkel the Pineapple Island – Lanai! Leave the shores of Maui behind on the Quicksilver Maui Deluxe Lanai Snorkeling Tour. Large coral reefs fringe the wild, remote, and sparsely populated island. The waters off Lanai are home to a pod of spinner dolphins made up of more than 100 individuals! Oftentimes, you will see spinners leap from the water while your double-deck catamaran makes her way to the snorkeling site at Manele Bay or Shark Fin Rock (named for its shape, not its underwater residents).

Tropical fish and animals like the pennant butterflyfish, humuhumuele’ele, pyramid butterflyfish (rarely seen off Maui beaches), octopus, eel, Hawaiian green sea turtle, and harmless reef shark live in the reef communities off Lanai. The crystal blue water, endemic marine life, and rarely visited reefs make snorkeling Lanai a unique experience.

A hearty breakfast, a BBQ lunch, and all snorkeling equipment and flotation devices are included. To finish off the day, guests play trivia to test their knowledge of the Hawaiian Islands. The winner receives a free Quicksilver Maui crew T-shirt! The Lanai Snorkeling Tour is a great adventure for everyone!

Maui Whale Watching Cruise

For more than one reason, the Island of Maui is consistently rated the Best Island in the world. Not only do the visitors and happy locals of Maui know this, but so do the humpback whales. Year after year, the humpback whales travel from cool Alaskan waters all the way to warm Hawaiian oceans for their annual winter breeding. They are first spotted in Maui’s waters as early as October and their presence gradually increases as more pods and escorts finally arrive in Hawaii just in time for the holiday season. Maui’s Whale Season runs from mid-Fall to April. Some common behavior displayed on a whale watching trip includes blowing and spy-hopping. They will also slap their tails, which is believed to be an act of communication and to demonstrate their individual strength. Spy-hopping is when the humpback whales come high out of the water to have a look around at the world above. A mature North Pacific humpback whale averages about 40ft in length and weighs about 40 tons, although they have been known to grow up to 52ft long.

Haleakala Volcano Sunrise Tour (optional) departs at 2:30AM and back by 8:00AM. Brown-Bag Breakfast included

One of Maui’s most memorable experiences is seeing the Haleakala sunrise or sunset from almost 10,000 feet above sea level, and like anything worthwhile, it takes some planning. Haleakala National Park is home to Maui's highest peak. Rising 10,023 feet above sea level, Haleakala means "house of the sun" and is where demigod Maui lassoed the sun, slowing its passage so people had more time to dry kapa (cloth) and grow food. The dormant volcano's "crater" is a valley carved by erosion. Sunrise at the summit of Haleakala has been a visitor attraction since the late 1800s when Samuel Clemens wrote: "It was the sublimest spectacle I ever witnessed, and I think the memory of it will remain with me always." One of the most common mistakes visitors make (besides wearing shorts) is to leave immediately after the sun rises. If you stay just ten to twenty minutes later, you will be treated to an incredible show as the colors of dawn stretch across the landscape of the Haleakala National Park. Encompassing over 30,000 acres of public land, the park offers hiking trails, pre-arranged horseback riding tours and more endangered species than any other National Park.

Lunch on own (we will provide a menu of top recommendations)

Cliff Diving Ceremony at Black Rock Beach

As the sun begins to set, the time-honored tradition of Maui's Chief Kahekili's leap of spiritual strength begins. Legend tells us that the last Chief of Maui proved his spiritual strength by leaping off of the sacred Pu'u Keka'a, Black Rock, into the waters below. Since the opening of the Sheraton Maui in 1963, this nightly ritual has taken place every day at sunset on the World famous Kaanapali Beach, Maui. This time honored tradition begins with a native Hawaiian Chant, the blowing of the conch announces the young diver's arrival. He will slowly make his way to the top of the cliff lighting torches along the way. Watch the diver offer his torch and a flower lei to the ocean, before taking his plunge into the waters below. The Sheraton provides live music at the Cliff Dive Grill before and after the ceremony, with guided historical narration in between. The sunset ceremony lasts 10 minutes and costs nothing, making it a worthwhile trip to honor a sacred place in Hawaiian history.

Dinner on own (we will provide a menu of top recommendations)

Light breakfast setup from 6AM-9AM.  Some guests may depart this day. Recommendations will be provided for exploring the island on your own for those staying over.
