It was January 15th, two days before my 30th birthday.  Justin was taking me out for my usual birthday dinner at Dante's.  We took our time, had a nice dinner followed by dessert.  After paying, Justin went to the bathroom, for what seemed like eternity.  This was confusing because we were heading home, and he was taking a really long time.

Upon returning home I was hanging my jacket up in the closet by the front door when I noticed Justin leaning on the doorway and watching me.  I laughed and asked him what he was doing and he replied, "look at Manny, what's he doing?" so I do just that.  I realize Manny is wearing a collar with a bell on it, which isn't typical.  He walks over to me and his collar read, "Will you marry my daddy?".  Justin got on one knee, grabbed Manny and held him up like the scene from Lion King, and said no words.  Of course I said, "yes" and here we are!

Turns out Justin had Steph and Randy stop over to put the collars on Manny and Piper.  Justin must have been nervous because he gave Steph the pin number to his debit card instead of the door code (this was why the bathroom trip was long)!  Steph was panicking, drove all the way home and then back.  They apparently had just left our house shortly before we had pulled in because the diveway lights were still on, but I did not notice.
