Bride

David and Fiona met in seventh grade at Delmar Middle School in Delmar, DE. They became quick friends once they realized their totally weird senses of humor meshed uncommonly well.

Fiona - "The first face-to-face converstion I remember having with David was in our English class... Remember, this was the age of AOL Instant Messanger - texting wasn't even invented yet - so talking with someone only online wasn't unusual. We'd talked here and there on AIM, just like everyone in our grade, but we weren't really friends... Anyway, he was sitting in front of me and making jokes about being a butterfly killer, and I knew right away that he was a weird, cute, charasmatic guy that I wanted to be around."

They attended many of the same classes and study halls, and they remained friends throughout high school. After graduating, they went their separate ways.

David and Fiona's younger sisters, Mary Beth and Yvette, also went to Delmar High School together, where they became best friends. Yvette spent a lot of time with the Bradshaw family and got to know all of them very well. The Siegel/Bradshaw connection remained strong, even without Fiona and David.

One fine October afternoon in 2014, the University of Delaware was having their annual homecoming football game celebration. At the time, Fiona and Yvette were undergrad students at the University of Delaware. Coincidentally, David joined his then-roommate and UD alumnus, Scott, and his other friend, Kevin, at one of the Homecoming tailgates.

David - "Scott, Kevin, and I were walking through a sea of blue and gold behind the UD football stadium.  We were bringing pizzas to Kevin's girlfriend's (Chelsea) tailgate.  On our way across the lot, I heard a 'DAVID BRADSHAW!'  I was so confused.  Who could I possibly be seeing here?  I guess it must be someone from high school.  After all, a few people from DHS went on to the University of Delaware.  I looked around for the voice, only to see none other than Yvette Siegel.  She was with her brother, Tristan, and her sister, Fiona.  Yvette and I talked for a few minutes, but I was focused on Fiona.  Her and I hadn't talked in years.  I made up some excuse to get her number...'Let's meet up later if you're out at the bars'.  What were the odds of finding her there at that place and that time?"

Fiona - "I was so embarassed when Yvette grabbed my hand and pulled me along to say hello to David. I didn't know what to say, but it was nice seeing familiar faces. After giving David my number and going back to usual Homecoming events, I giggled with Yvette about how weird it was seeing David after such a long time."

If asked, Yvette and Mary Beth will take the credit for Fiona and David's relationship. They had, after all, been plotting behind the scenes for years... "What if David and Fiona got married?? Then, we could be sisters!!" At least, that's how David and Fiona imagine the conversation went. Perhaps the seed was planted when David kept "checking-in" with Yvette to see how Fiona was doing. Or, maybe Yvette was to blame whenever she would remind Fiona, "You know, David Bradshaw is single".

Whatever the case may be, it worked. David and Fiona caught up with one another later that night and fell back into a comfortable pattern of conversation. When the night came to a close, David asked Fiona if he could take her on a date, and she said yes...The rest is history!
