Dawn's story.... (our website creator) Umm, we drove each other nuts at school, so we figured we oughtta make this official. (Oh Dawn..... you are so cute!!) Melissa's story...... In reality, we worked together, in the same building and always said hello as we passed each other in the hall. We shared a lot of the same friends and a passion for teaching, but since Hannah was such a mean bully, we never really became friends. (hehehehehe can you tell who is in charge of the keyboard right now???) Then summer camp rolled around. I walked out of my interview for Camp Director and saw Hannah sitting there. I was sure she was gunning for my job and felt immediately threatened and was unsure if my sure thing summer gig was about to fall through. I later found out that not only did I get the job, but the higher powers wanted Hannah to be one of the assistant directors. I really wasn't sure about working with her and reluctantly signed the papers hiring her, knowing she was going to drive me nuts all summer...... Little did I know. Hannah's Story.... (I'm in control now...) So, my first day at Ellis we are doing some weird John Safina staff development thing, and sure enough I'm in Melissa's group. First thought- "Wow, she's giggly." Nice though, of course. We pass by each other in the hall for a couple years... saying hi, smiling, and the whole nine yards. Evidently, she thought I was a big B because she asked me if I was okay after a minor kitchen fire I was telling Linda about.... I responded, "yeah".... (because YEAH, I was okay). But she didn't like my response.... Then, we both end up working at Camp Fremont together. Just to get my story straight, yes, she was technically my boss. But we know who the boss is now!... (yep, still her). Within two days the lady finds out how awesome I am (to say the least lol). Next thing I know the woman is confessing to me that she didn't even want to hire me! Can you believe it!!!!??? She didn't want to hire me! As a matter of fact, she "accidentally" quit my other job for me... (I know it was so that I could spend Fridays with her too... hehe). Well, by the end of the summer I had cast my spell on her and we became inseperable... There you have it folks! Jump forward to the now..... What an adventure it's been! We jumped out of an airplane together, visited the Dominicans, stood under the St. Louis Arch, and tackled an inflatable 5K. We are two people that genuinely love spending time with one another. Even when doing something as simple as watching TV or running errands, we adore each others presence. Of course, Hannah eats a lot of junk food now... Melissa goes to bed way too late... Hannah listens to country music.... Melissa agreed to go to a Wiz Khalifa concert..... and we are both late for everything! But, we both feel very fortunate to be here together and planning our future together! |
